Make your own Electrum Seed

Electrum 2.0 supports a new make_seed command line option that generates a random seed and displays the mnemonic:

electrum make_seed

You can add the –nbits switch to generate a seed of arbitrary size. For example

electrum make_seed --nbits 256

The above will generate a 256 bits seed.

It is also possible to provide your own entropy using dice rolls or something equally random. It has to be in the form of a base 10 integer:

electrum make_seed --entropy 123456

To create a wallet with your seed use the restore option:

electrum -w /path/to/new/wallet/file restore

Other commands can be seen with:

    Hello,

I need help restoring a 2FA Electrum wallet from seed. I had to reformat my laptop and when I reinstalled ELectrum and I try to restore my wallet, it doesn’t give me the option of restoring a 2FA wallet with a 24-word seed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Duncan
